Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Is The Man of the Century

Recently Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was featured on the cover of Muscle & Fitness, where he was bestowed with the title “Man of the Century,” and rightly so. This year has seen Johnson star in two huge action movies, with both being successful hits. San Andreas and Furious 7 both raked in $1 billion at the box office — I think that says a little something about his success in the film industry.

Johnson’s career started with WWE during the mid-90’s when his football hopes were crushed as a result of a knee injury. However, his move into the pro wrestling circuit was probably the best option for him at the time; considering his size and the fact that his father, Rocky Johnson, was a pro wrestler as well.

But amidst all the accolades and achievements that this man has to his name, Johnson too had to deal with issues that many everyday people face — namely, depression.

It’s easy to fall into a state of depression over the smallest thing, but for Johnson, it was his future. As most of you might or might not know, Johnson played college football for the University of Miami. His dreams of playing in the NFL were crushed when he wasn’t drafted due to his injury — and to make things worse, he was cut from the Calgary Stampeders, a Canadian Football League team, just after two months of training.

“I found that with depression, one of the most important things you can realize is that you’re not alone — you’re not the first to go through it, you’re not gonna be the last to go through it. And often times it happens — you feel like you’re alone, and you feel like it’s only you and you’re in your bubble.”
